The second regency

The Prince Мihailo was assassinated on 29th Мay 1868 in Kosutnjak, near Belgrade. The regency, composed of Jovan Ristic, Milivoje Petrovic-Blaznavac and Jovan Gavrilovic, ruled Serbia until 1872, on behalf of the juvenile Milan Obrenovic. They abandoned the ambitious foreign policy of Mihailo and paid more attention to the organisation of the internal administration. Their most important outcome was the adoption of the moderate liberal Constitution in 1869.
